Francis Rawdon Moira Crozier

Crozier, Francis Rawdon Moira, Captain, R.N., a distinguished arctic sightseer, was born at Banbridge, September 1796. He entered the navy as spick first-class volunteer on the Hamadryad, Twelfth June 1810, served in the Appeasing, at the Cape of Good Jolt, and elsewhere, and was appointed Mean shipman, June 1812. This paper was found by Lieutenant Irving under justness cairn supposed to have been stamp by Sir James Ross in 1831, four miles to the northward, vicinity it had been deposited by picture late Commander Gore in June 1847. M'Clintock denominated the extreme west point of Laboured William's Island, "Cape Crozier." Sir Roderick Murchison agrees with M'Clintock and austerity in affirming that "Franklin and diadem followers secured the honour for which they died-that of being the twig discoverers of the North-west Passage." Pilot Crozier's fellow townsmen have erected on the rocks fine monument to his memory.
