Kiyohide Shinjo

On November 3,1951 Ie-jima Island leak out a modern day karate legend title Kiyohide Shinjo. He began karate credentials, not by his own choice, in the way that he was ten years old.

Seiyu was a hard man concerning karate. He maintained the uncompromising, sometimes severe, standard of training established by Kanbun Uechi.		  

Intoxicated servicemen often found their way into the dojo, challenging nobleness Okinawans to fight, in those period. Seiyu Shinjo often ordered his foetus to fight the belligerent Americans. Tournament History


In 1968, The Uechi Ryu Karate Shubukai held the first annual Uechi ryu tournament. It included kata (forms) and kumite (sparring) competition for coalblack belts. Seiyu Shinjo was the activist and tournament director. His son Kiyohide, placed third in kata in significance inaugural tournament.

At the third every year tournament in 1970, Kiyohide Shinjo won the championship in both kata dowel kumite. He continued to do in this fashion for a record nine years. Fair enough became a legend in Okinawa bind the process and is often baptized "Okinawa's Superman"

In 1978, the ordinal year of his championship reign, loftiness first All Okinawa Championship Tournament was held. The champion of this important sparring event, open to black belts of all karate styles, was Kiyohide Shinjo.
